Hi friends! For a while now I’ve been thinking about creating a blog based off of my food and wellness Instagram account, @BalancewithLo, and this fall I decided to finally do it.
After I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2016 with a BS in Kinesiology (similar to exercise science) and a minor in Sustainable Food Systems, I moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity & Public Health at the University of Bristol. I submitted my dissertation for my masters degree in early September and so I have a bit of a gap between now and where I hope to be next fall, let’s call it my “gap year” (I hope to share specifics with you at a later time!). So, the next 8 or so months of my life right now are going to be a bit unpredictable to say the least.
For those who know me personally or have been following along on Instagram for a while, you know that along with my passion for all things wellness, I have a bad case of the travel bug. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel during my time living in the United Kingdom and plan to travel for the majority of the last 4 months I have left here. I plan to use this website to share with you the mergence of my passions for travel and for health.
On this blog, I will share with you what health means to me. My philosophy on healthy living is that its all about balance. To me, balance means nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods, while also listening to our bodies and honoring our cravings. Balance means moving our bodies to strengthen ourselves both physically and mentally, while also honoring our bodies when we need rest.
So for now, along with my recipes and meal ideas (Bristol is still my home base so cooking adventures shall continue), I hope to also share with you everything from my travel eats (fun finds + hostel recipes), travel adventures and travel recommendations to my health + wellness tips and more! I hope you’ll follow along 🙂
